The differences between OWS and the Tea Party – Graphically explained
Found on the
Greater Boston Tea Party website, this graphic shows that the hard-core occupiers do have something in common with the Tea Party people.
It starts out with a couple of points on which almost every American can agree.
WE HAVE A PROBLEM!
GOVERNMENT COLLUSION WITH SPECIAL INTERESTS IS AN OUTRAGE!
GOVERNMENT SHOULDN’T GIVE SPECIAL TREATMENT TO FAVORED INTERESTS!
THE BAILOUTS WERE WRONG!
LET’S TAKE TO THE STREETS!
And then the groups begin to split
OCCUPY WALL STREET vs. THE TEA PARTY
- Break The System vs. Fix The System
- We should be bailed out too! vs. Nobody should be bailed out!
- Get money out of politics. vs. Get politics out of money.
- We deserve other people’s money. vs. People deserve to keep what they earn.
- We need to keep spending money we don’t have. vs. We need to stop spending money we don’t have.
- The solution is to increase govt power. vs. The solution is to decrease govt power.
- Tax those evil rich fat cats into oblivion. vs. We’re taxed enough already.
- Replace the Constitution vs. Restore the Constitution
Occupy Wall Street (almost 3000 arrested)

Joe Courtney greets the electorate:
Here is your current United States Congressman from the 2nd Connecticut Congressional District, Joe Courtney, coming over to have a nice chat with some of his constituents. Not really, he came over and began to get into a heated argument with Jen and the other, approximately 15, members of the 2nd District TPP as he was arriving at the WXLM studios in New London, CT on August 16, 2011. He was not happy to see our group there as you can see by these pictures.
Joe has found that we have become a major thorn in his side since his vote in favor of Cap and Trade on June 26, 2009. Joe has a real problem, he has his record of voting in favor of spending bills and regulations introduced by Democrats over 90% of the time. Basically, Joe has never seen a spending bill that he wouldn't support...unless it comes from the Republicans. Then he is a man of conviction and will vote
NO every single time!
Where are the town hall meetings Joe? We'd like to have a chat, as a group, soon.
Call, write, email or fax Joe and let him know how you feel, all of the information to contact him is in the right hand column. As you can see, he likes talking at his constituents.

Marching Orders and Talking Points
In the past we have refrained from giving any kind of marching orders or talking points, or what you can do to get active. We have received enough requests from those who've asked "what's next?" that this seems only logical now. It's great to stand at a rally for an hour and a half holding a sign or a flag and listen to speeches every couple of months, but what is next?
Here are a few things that you can do, we are doing them so we know that they are doable:
1. Organize in your town or community.
There are more people than you know in your town or community who are looking for someone near them to get things started. Be that person. Currently, we are trying to organize the 2nd District by Connecticut State Senatorial and Legislative Districts. Contact Jen or myself to help get your area organized or to see if someone in your area has already started. It's not that hard.
2. Let Your Voice be Heard
Make phone calls, write letters, send emails and/or faxes to your legislators. Write letters to the editors of your local newspapers. No matter what you have heard from the lame steam media repeaters (main stream media reporters) these methods do work. Look at our recent results with the Health Care legislation in the U.S. Senate. They wanted that done before August of 2009. It lingered until the morning of Christmas Eve (December 24th). Now all of these Senators have to come home to deal with all of their constituent's. How many of these brave men and women will really hang around to take the verbal beating from you, the voters?
3. Use your other assets
You have cash, time and energy. Find a candidate for a particular office that you want to support and donate some money to them. You can find candidates for many offices on our Candidates 2010 page. Do your research and find the right person for the job. If you can't donate a lot of money make a small donation. Remember some of these people run on very small budgets. A thousand $5.00 donations is better than two $2500.00 donations. Because many more people are interested in that candidate.
If you have no money to support your candidate of choice then donate your time and energy. I have never heard of a candidate turning away a volunteer. Have you? You can use you time and energy to make phone calls, hand out flyer's, knock on doors or whatever. Just get involved!
